19th Century French Gilt & Moulded Tapestry Three-Piece Salon Suite

An ornate 19th-century French salon suite comprising a two-seater sofa and two matching chairs, all upholstered in a fine floral tapestry fabric. The moulded and gilt wooden frames are richly detailed, resting on elegant, fluted legs, and exude period opulence.

The upholstery is threadbare in places, particularly on the sofa seat and arms, with some missing backing to the rear of the sofa and light staining here and there. The gilt frames, while solid and sturdy, have a distressed patina with small marks and bumps – an honest testament to their age and use.

Though showing wear, this suite offers tremendous potential; with sympathetic reupholstery, it could be transformed into a statement centrepiece that will last for generations. A beautiful and decorative set that would suit a refined parlour, grand hallway, or period sitting room.
