19th Century Mahogany Framed Settee
19th Century Mahogany Framed Settee
An elegant and substantial Victorian mahogany settee / chaise of impressive scale, showcasing classic mid-Victorian craftsmanship and refined proportions. The sweeping scroll arms and gently undulating backrest create a beautifully balanced silhouette, making this a statement piece suitable for a grand interior.
The settee is raised on turned mahogany supports terminating in castors, allowing for ease of movement. (The castors do not appear to be original.) The mahogany frame is solid, weighty, and well constructed, retaining crisp lines and excellent presence.
Upholstered in an ivory damask-style fabric, which remains presentable overall, though there are some water marks and signs of age-related wear. The upholstery could be professionally cleaned, or alternatively replaced, offering an excellent opportunity to personalise the piece while preserving its distinguished Victorian form.
A versatile and decorative antique, equally at home in a period drawing room, large hallway, or as a centrepiece within a refined contemporary setting.
Condition:
Good antique condition overall. Structurally sound with a solid frame. Upholstery shows age-related wear and water marking. Please refer closely to the photographs, which form an integral part of the description.
