Antique Apothecary Cabinets - Pair 2 Filing Drawers - Haberdashery / Chemists
A matching pair of vintage filing cabinets, each fitted with eight drawers and original brass cup handles with integrated label plates. Designed for office or retail use, these solid and practical units now make ideal storage for paperwork, tools or craft supplies, or for display in an apothecary, haberdashery or chemist-style setting. Each drawer is large enough to hold A4 sheets comfortably and features a hand grip cut-out to the back for easy removal.
Constructed from solid hardwood (likely mahogany or similar) with later plywood tops and backing boards. The drawer boxes are dovetail-jointed with the bases covered in green felt lining, now loose and worn in areas. The brass handles have a rich aged patina, adding to their authentic industrial and apothecary look. Likely early 20th century. Unsure of the exact age, but more than happy to help with any further questions.
Condition
In well used vintage condition with visible age and wear throughout. There are scratches, scuffs, stains, and ring marks to the tops, colour variation to the drawer fronts, and chips and losses to corners and edges. The drawers show marks and staining inside, with some felt lifting and residue from previous use. One drawer has evidence of an old spillage. The drawers open and close but some run stiffly. Locks are present but no keys are included. Structurally sound and usable as they are, with a great original look, or ideal for restoration and refinishing. Would benefit from a good clean and polish.
We have tried to capture all of these in the photos as best as possible, so please study these as a good indication of cosmetic condition.
Measurements (Per Cabinet):
Height: 845mm
Width: 605mm
Depth: 560mm
Internal Drawers Measure: 145mm H x 495mm L x 240mm W
