Antique Oak Hearth / Fender / Foot Stool / Bench. Oak Wood Frame, Legs and Stretcher. Reupholstered in an Art Nuveaux Chenille.

This beautiful piece has a long history. Being an Hearth Stool, it would have been used as a resting place in front of an open fire or close to a range or grate. The timber elements are in wonderful condition. Its clearly been well looked after.
I have reupholstered it using an iLiv fabric in a deeply plush carmine. The fabric is of an Art Nouveau design and is a chenille. It has an eye catching shine in certain light which adds to is lustrousness and I think really suits this piece.
The deeply cushioned pad is thick and supportive and has been treated to a new, fire retardant lining. I havnt done anything to the woodwork other than apply some beeswax and polish to bring out the natural beauty of the oak.

I aim to source / rescue quality furniture that just needs a bit of tlc to restore them to their former glory. I only use high end fabrics to give a bespoke quality feel to each piece. Using such fabrics always enhances the design and makes the whole process so enjoyable for me to work with and of course, for you to enjoy.
NOTE. In order to comply with British Fire Safety Regulations 1988, all my re-upholstered furniture manufactured after 1st January1950 is re-upholstered using fire retardant material, or contains fire retardant linings such as barrier cloth or wool as a liner / padding.
