“Craigcrook Castle Edinburgh"Unique Art Deco Stained Glass Hall Stand Console Table
The stained glass panel, that forms the back of this hall stand, is believed to depict the 17th century castle nestled at the foot of Corstorphine Hill in Edinburgh. Originally the front door for an early 20th century villa in the area, at some point it was cut down and added to a dividing wall within the property. I rescued it when a new extension was being constructed.
The woodwork has been partially stripped back to reveal the wood and waxed. The lead has been treated with blacking and a scaffolding board shelf, hairpin legs and coat hooks made from bicycle chains, have all been added to form a useful and unique hall table. LED dimmer lights have been added to the back to allow the beauty of the glass to shine through. Although stable, it is recommend that the panel is firmly secured to the adjacent wall to avoid over balancing.
Please note that most of my pieces are rescued from landfill and whilst I clean, repair and prep all pieces before upcycling, some signs of ageing and wear and tear cannot be fixed - I like to think these imperfections add to the character of the pieces.
