Edwardian Crossbanded Mahogany Triple Fitted Compactum
Edwardian Crossbanded Mahogany Triple Fitted Compactum
An impressive Edwardian triple fitted wardrobe of compactum form, beautifully crossbanded throughout and displaying a rich, well-developed patina.
The two outer doors are fitted with bevel-edged full-length oval mirrors, adding both elegance and practicality. Internally, the wardrobe offers excellent storage, with hanging compartments to either side fitted with original hooks, and a central arrangement comprising an upper cupboard with a single shelf over a graduated bank of drawers.
As expected with a piece of this age, there are areas of veneer loss and surface wear, all commensurate with age and use and visible in the photographs. The right-hand door does not currently stay closed and would benefit from attention to the lock. The upper central cupboard shows some loss to the brass key escutcheon. A key is present, although the locks would benefit from adjustment or replacement.
The wardrobe breaks down into five sections, allowing for easier transport and installation.
A well-proportioned and good-quality Edwardian wardrobe, offering generous storage and strong visual presence.
