George III Mahogany Chest on Chest – c. Early 19th Century
George III Mahogany Chest on Chest – c. Early 19th Century
A substantial and elegant George III mahogany chest on chest, featuring a beautifully moulded and shaped cornice above two short drawers and a further six graduated drawers. Each drawer is fitted with decorative brass handles and ornate brass key escutcheons. While the original locks are no longer in place, the design remains cohesive and charming.
This impressive piece rests on traditional bracket feet and offers excellent storage, making it both a practical and decorative addition to any interior.
The chest boasts a rich, warm mahogany colour and a lovely aged patina. There are small, historic splits on both sides—stable and with no movement—typical for a piece of this age, now approximately 200 years old.
There is evidence of minor historic worm which is inactive and has been treated.
A true antique of timeless quality and craftsmanship, ready to serve for generations to come.
The chest splits into two pieces for ease of transport and moving.
