Georgian Mahogany Cabinet – Chest Over Cupboard (Two-Part Construction)
Georgian Mahogany Cabinet – Chest Over Cupboard (Two-Part Construction)
A charming and well-proportioned Georgian mahogany cabinet, offering a practical combination of drawers above a cupboard base. The upper section comprises four graduated drawers, fitted with brass handles (later replacements), providing generous storage.
Below sits a cupboard with a single internal shelf, complete with key and working lock, ideal for linens, documents or household items. The piece separates into two sections for ease of movement and transport.
The mahogany displays a warm, rich patina developed over time. There is some historic worm, fully treated and now inactive, along with minor chips to the rear trim of the top (left and right) and some age-related discolouration to the sides, all consistent with an authentic period piece.
The mother-of-pearl escutcheons are later replacements.
Overall, a really attractive and characterful Georgian cabinet with plenty of presence and useful storage.
Dimensions:
• Width: 75 cm
• Depth: 44.5 cm
• Height: 132.5 cm
• Join height (where the two sections meet): 72.5 cm
