Georgian Sectretaire Chest of Drawers - mahogany 18th century
My father bought this in an antique shop in Auchterarder in the 1980’s and paid £1350 for it then. It is a lovely large piece of furniture with three large drawers fit for linen, clothes or blankets. The top drawer is heavy as it is a wonderful fitted desk complete with 6 drawers, 6 document slots and a lockable cupboard complete with original key. The top is in good condition for its age with no splits but signs of use through the years. The top drawer front lowers on brass arches to form a desk strong enough to write on. A fabulous antique at a great price it is 100cm high, 121cm wide and 54cm deep. It looks best in a larger room.
