Pair of Antique Carolean-Style Oak Chairs
Pair of Antique Carolean-Style Oak Chairs
Richly Carved • Barley-Twist Supports • Decorative Statement Pieces
Full of character and seventeenth-century revival charm, this pair of antique Carolean-style oak chairs makes a striking decorative statement. The tall backs are beautifully carved with scrolling foliage, fruit clusters, and strapwork details, framed by dramatic barley-twist uprights topped with turned finials.
The solid oak seats are hand-carved with stylised foliate motifs, their worn edges and time-softened contours adding to the sense of age and authenticity. Beneath, each chair stands on wonderfully shaped legs connected by a network of barley-twist stretchers, giving them both elegance and presence.
The chairs have a little give to them—as is entirely typical with pieces of this age—and could be re-set if desired. For most homes, they are best suited to decorative or occasional use, where their sculptural quality, dark polish, and rich texture can be fully appreciated.
Perfect for flanking a console, dressing a hallway, or bringing depth and historic interest to a living space, these are chairs that add instant atmosphere wherever they are placed.
