Vintage Late Georgian Regency Mahogany Linen Press Tallboy Wardrobe Chest of Drawers, c1800

This Antique Late Georgian Regency Mahogany Linen Press Tallboy, dating to circa 1800, is a superb example of fine English cabinetmaking. Crafted in rich mahogany with exceptional matching flame veneers, it demonstrates the elegance and practicality of the Georgian Regency period. The tallboy form combines a wardrobe and chest of drawers, offering both style and versatile storage.

The upper section is fitted with an architectural pediment over moulded cornice above a pair of finely veneered doors, each displaying beautifully book-matched flame mahogany, framed with delicate crossbanding and boxwood stringing. Behind, original linen slide over brass hanging rail and hooks. The lower section comprises a bank of graduated cockbeaded drawers, all retaining their original brass handles and escutcheons, providing additional storage and timeless character. Two short dummy frieze drawers.

Raised on traditional shaped bracket feet, this linen press has an excellent stance and proportions, making it equally at home in a period interior, modern dressing room, or refined hallway. The rich colour and glowing patina, developed over more than two centuries, highlight the depth and beauty of the mahogany. A perfect blend of form and function, this linen press is both a practical wardrobe and a statement piece of Georgian Regency furniture.
