Hi,
Thanks for viewing my listing for this oak drop leaf coffee table.
The legs, or base of the table is very sturdy, solid and traditional in form. I cleaned it all thoroughly, there was very little repair needed in this area so I treated the base to three coats of ReColour (Dulux brand of recycled furniture paint made from left over paints) in the Midnight Moment colour. I followed this with a generous coat of Annie Sloan clear wax which brought out the hues and protected it from spills and made it wipeable.
I also painted the underside of the table top to keep the colour consistent.
For the table top, I made small repairs with filler where needed and sanded down the surface, which gave it a very appealing rustic finish.
I really didn't want to lose this colour or the natural grain of the wood, so I opted for the same colour of paint and a basic Orla Kiely inspired leaf and stem shape repeat pattern. It worked well and the pattern appears to be 'floating' above the wooden table top, which is really attractive.
I waxed all the surface of the table top down afterwards for enhancement and protection and then photographed and measured it all in my workshop.
Thank you for viewing my work and for considering purchasing from a small business and a furniture artist working with salvaged and sustainable products.
